Thigh Lift in Turkey
Remove excess skin and reshape your thighs for a smoother, firmer contour, from £2,820 with 5-star hotel, transfers, and 12 months of aftercare.
You have worked hard to get where you are. Maybe you have lost a significant amount of weight, through diet, exercise, or even weight loss surgery. You should be proud of that achievement. But the loose, sagging skin on your thighs is a constant reminder of where you have been, not where you are now. No amount of squats or targeted exercise can tighten skin that has lost its elasticity. That is not a limitation of your effort, it is a limitation of biology.
A thigh lift (thighplasty) removes excess skin and fat from the inner or outer thighs, creating a smoother, firmer, more proportionate leg contour. It is one of the most transformative body contouring procedures available, particularly for patients who have been through a major weight loss journey.
In the UK, a thigh lift costs between £5,000 and £8,000 for the procedure alone, and NHS funding is rarely available for cosmetic reasons. With The Health Store Turkey, your all-inclusive package starts from just £2,820, covering your procedure at a government-licensed hospital, 5-star hotel accommodation, VIP airport transfers, a personal translator, and 12 months of dedicated aftercare.
What Is Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift, known medically as thighplasty, is a body contouring procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the thigh area to create a smoother, more toned appearance. It reshapes the thighs by tightening the underlying tissue and removing the sagging skin that diet and exercise cannot address.
There are several types of thigh lift, and your surgeon will recommend the right approach based on where your excess skin is concentrated and how much correction is needed:
Medial (inner) thigh lift, the most common type. An incision is made in the groin crease, extending down the inner thigh as needed. This targets the loose skin and fat on the inner thighs that causes rubbing, chafing, and discomfort. Ideal for patients with moderate to significant inner thigh sagging.
Lateral (outer) thigh lift, addresses excess skin on the outer thigh and buttock area. The incision extends from the groin around the hip to the back of the buttock. Often performed as part of a lower body lift for patients who have lost a very significant amount of weight.
Bilateral thigh lift, combines inner and outer thigh correction for patients who need comprehensive reshaping around the full circumference of the thigh.
Mini thigh lift, a less extensive option using a shorter incision limited to the upper inner thigh. Suited to patients with a smaller amount of excess skin concentrated near the groin area.
A thigh lift is frequently combined with liposuction to remove stubborn fat deposits and refine the overall contour for a more sculpted result. Your surgeon will discuss the best combination during your consultation, tailored to your body and your goals.
Am I Suitable?
A thigh lift may be right for you if:
- You have loose, sagging skin on your inner or outer thighs that has not improved with diet and exercise
- You have lost a significant amount of weight and are left with excess skin that causes discomfort, chafing, or self-consciousness
- Your thigh skin has lost its elasticity due to ageing or weight fluctuations
- You experience rubbing or irritation between your thighs when walking or exercising
- You feel unable to wear certain clothing because of excess thigh skin
- You are at a stable weight and in good general health
- You are a non-smoker, or willing to stop smoking at least 4 weeks before and after your procedure
A thigh lift is not a weight loss procedure. It is designed for people who are already at or near their goal weight but are dealing with excess skin that cannot be corrected through lifestyle changes alone. For the best and most lasting results, your weight should have been stable for at least 6 months before the procedure.
If you are still in the early stages of your weight loss journey, your patient coordinator may advise waiting until your weight has stabilised before proceeding.
If you are unsure whether you are a suitable candidate, your free consultation is the place to find out. Your patient coordinator will review your medical history, discuss your goals, and help you decide on the right timing.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Before Your Procedure
Everything starts with a free, no-obligation consultation, online, by phone, or face-to-face at one of our UK consultation days. Your patient coordinator will walk you through the procedure, discuss your expectations, answer every question, and help you understand what results you can realistically achieve.
Once you decide to proceed, you will receive a personalised treatment plan and pre-procedure instructions. These typically include stopping blood-thinning medications, quitting smoking, staying well-hydrated, and arranging for help at home during the first week of recovery.
During Your Stay in Turkey
Your VIP transfer will collect you from the airport and take you to your 5-star hotel. The following day, you will attend the hospital for pre-procedure assessments, blood tests, a physical examination, and a detailed face-to-face consultation with your surgeon. This is where your surgeon will examine your thighs, discuss the incision placement, mark the treatment areas, and confirm your treatment plan.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 2-3 hours, depending on whether one or both thighs are being treated and whether liposuction is included. You will stay in hospital for 1 night with round-the-clock nursing care. Your personal translator will be with you throughout, ensuring clear communication at every stage.
After Your Procedure
After discharge, you will return to your hotel for the initial recovery phase. Your surgeon will see you for a follow-up appointment before you fly home to check your healing, assess any drains, and provide detailed aftercare instructions.
You will be fitted with a compression garment that you will need to wear for several weeks. This supports your healing, controls swelling, reduces the risk of fluid build-up, and helps your skin settle smoothly against the new contour.
Recovery & Aftercare
Recovery from a thigh lift requires more patience than some cosmetic procedures, as the thighs are involved in almost every movement. But with proper preparation and realistic expectations, most patients find the recovery very manageable.
Days 1-3: The first few days are the most uncomfortable. Your thighs will feel tight, swollen, and tender. Movement will be limited, you will need to take short, slow steps and avoid bending your legs excessively. Pain is well-managed with prescribed medication. Drains may be in place to prevent fluid build-up and are typically removed within 3-5 days.
Days 4-7: Swelling and bruising begin to settle, though your thighs will still feel tight. Gentle, short walks around your room or hotel are encouraged to promote circulation. You may need help with tasks like bathing and dressing during this period.
Week 1-2: Gradual improvement day by day. Most patients can manage daily activities independently by the end of the second week, though you should avoid any straining, prolonged standing, or lifting. Swelling is visibly reducing. You will still be wearing your compression garment around the clock.
Week 2-4: Many patients return to desk-based work at this stage. Light activities become more comfortable, though you should continue to avoid exercise, heavy lifting, and anything that puts strain on your inner thighs. The incision lines will still be healing, keep them clean and follow your aftercare instructions carefully.
Month 1-3: A gradual return to exercise, starting with walking and building up slowly. Avoid running, squatting, and high-impact activities for at least 6-8 weeks. Your thighs continue to refine as swelling subsides and the skin tightens further.
Month 3-6: Your shape continues to settle. Scars will initially appear red or pink but fade progressively to thin, pale lines over 12-18 months. Most patients see their final result between 3 and 6 months.
Throughout your recovery, your patient coordinator will check in regularly as part of your 12 months of included aftercare.
Risks & Considerations
A thigh lift is a well-established body contouring procedure, but as with any treatment performed under general anaesthesia, there are considerations you should understand. Your surgeon will explain these thoroughly during your consultation.
Common effects (expected and temporary):
- Swelling and bruising across the thighs, typically peaks within the first week and gradually resolves over 3-6 weeks
- Tightness and discomfort, managed with pain relief and eases as your body adjusts to the new contour
- Numbness along the inner thigh or near the incision area, very common and usually resolves within a few months
- Scarring, your surgeon places incisions strategically in the groin crease and along the inner thigh to be as discreet as possible; scars fade over 12-18 months
Less common considerations:
- Seroma (fluid collection), sometimes occurs after drain removal and can be easily drained if needed
- Wound separation, the inner thigh is an area of natural movement and tension, which can occasionally affect wound healing; managed conservatively if it occurs
- Infection, minimised through sterile hospital protocols and post-procedure antibiotics
- Asymmetry, minor differences between sides are normal; significant asymmetry is rare
- Blood clots, reduced through compression garments, early mobilisation, and preventative medication
How your safety is managed: Your procedure takes place in a government-licensed, JCI-accredited hospital with full surgical and emergency facilities. Your surgeon is an experienced specialist in body contouring procedures. You receive 24/7 nursing care during your hospital stay, and your 12 months of aftercare ensures ongoing support throughout your recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, a thigh lift does leave scars, but your surgeon places the incisions strategically to minimise their visibility. For a medial (inner) thigh lift, the main incision is placed in the groin crease, where it is naturally hidden by underwear and swimwear. If the incision extends further down the inner thigh, it follows the natural contour to be as discreet as possible. Scars will be red or pink initially and gradually fade to thin, pale lines over 12-18 months. Your surgeon will recommend scar care products during your aftercare to optimise healing. Most patients find the trade-off of discreet scarring for smoother, firmer thighs is absolutely worthwhile.
Absolutely. Many patients combine a thigh lift with liposuction to remove stubborn fat and refine the contour further. It is also commonly performed alongside a tummy tuck, arm lift, or as part of a full lower body lift, particularly for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and want comprehensive body contouring. Combining procedures means one anaesthetic, one hospital stay, and one recovery period, which is both more convenient and more cost-effective. Your surgeon will advise on the safest and most effective combination based on your individual goals and overall health.
Light walking is encouraged from day one to promote circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots. After 3-4 weeks, you can gradually increase your activity with gentle exercise like longer walks. Running, squatting, cycling, and any high-impact exercise that puts strain on your thighs should be avoided for at least 6-8 weeks. Swimming can usually resume once your incisions are fully healed, typically around 4-6 weeks. Your surgeon will give you a personalised timeline based on your specific procedure and how your recovery is progressing.
Very common. In fact, patients who have undergone significant weight loss, whether through gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, or other weight loss procedures, are among the most frequent candidates for thigh lifts. When you lose a large amount of weight, the skin on your thighs often cannot shrink back to match your new body size. This leaves excess, hanging skin that no amount of exercise can resolve. A thigh lift removes that skin and gives you the body contour that matches your incredible weight loss achievement. Many of our patients at The Health Store Turkey combine their thigh lift with other post-weight-loss procedures for a complete transformation.
An inner (medial) thigh lift targets the skin and fat on the inside of your thighs, the area that commonly causes chafing and rubbing. The incision is placed in the groin crease and may extend down the inner thigh depending on the amount of correction needed. An outer (lateral) thigh lift addresses the skin on the outside of the thighs and the buttock area, with the incision extending from the groin around the hip. Some patients need both, which is called a bilateral thigh lift. Your surgeon will examine your thighs during your consultation and recommend which type, or combination, will give you the best result.
