Brazilian Butt Lift in Turkey

A Brazilian Butt Lift, commonly known as a BBL, is a two-part procedure that enhances the shape and volume of the buttocks using your own body fat.

Step one: Liposuction. Fat is harvested from areas where you have excess, typically the abdomen, waist, flanks (love handles), back, or thighs. This is done using careful liposuction techniques that sculpt and contour the donor areas, giving you a slimmer profile in those regions.

Step two: Fat transfer. The harvested fat is purified and then strategically injected into the buttocks at multiple depths and angles. Your surgeon sculpts the shape layer by layer, creating volume, projection, and a natural roundness that complements your body's proportions.

The result is a dual transformation: slimmer where you want to be slimmer, and fuller where you want more shape. Because the enhancement uses your own tissue, the results look and feel completely natural.

It is worth noting that not all of the transferred fat will survive, typically 60-80% of the fat cells integrate permanently. Your surgeon accounts for this by slightly over-correcting during the procedure. The final shape stabilises over 3-6 months as swelling resolves and the surviving fat cells establish their blood supply.

Before Your Procedure

Once you decide to proceed, you will receive pre-procedure instructions. These include maintaining a stable weight, avoiding blood-thinning medications, stopping smoking, and eating a protein-rich diet to support fat cell survival and healing.

During Your Stay in Turkey

You will be collected from the airport by your VIP transfer and taken to your 5-star hotel. The following day, you will attend the hospital for pre-procedure assessments, blood tests, body measurements, and a face-to-face consultation with your surgeon. This is when your surgeon will mark the donor areas and discuss the shape and projection you are hoping to achieve.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 3-5 hours. Liposuction is completed first, followed by fat purification and injection. You will stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights with round-the-clock nursing care. Your personal translator will be with you at every stage.

After Your Procedure

After discharge, you will return to your hotel for initial recovery. You will wear a compression garment on the liposuction areas and a special BBL pillow or cushion to protect the transferred fat in your buttocks. Before you fly home, your surgeon will see you for a follow-up check and provide detailed aftercare instructions.

Recovery from a BBL requires specific care to protect the transferred fat cells and maximise your results. The most important rule: avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for at least 2 weeks, ideally 4-6 weeks.

Days 1-7: You will experience swelling and soreness in both the liposuction areas and the buttocks. This is normal and managed with prescribed pain relief. You must avoid sitting directly on your buttocks, use a BBL pillow when you need to sit, and sleep on your front or side. Light walking is encouraged from day one.

Week 1-2: Swelling begins to reduce. You will still need your BBL pillow for sitting. The liposuction areas may feel lumpy or uneven, this is normal swelling and resolves over time. Your compression garment should be worn as directed.

Week 2-4: Most patients can return to desk-based work using a BBL pillow. You can begin to sit for short periods without the pillow from around week 3-4, as guided by your surgeon. Daily activities gradually return to normal. The shape of your buttocks will begin to settle.

Month 1-3: You can resume gentle exercise. Avoid high-impact activities or direct pressure on the buttocks during vigorous exercise until your surgeon gives the all-clear. The surviving fat cells are establishing their blood supply during this period.

Month 3-6: Your final shape becomes visible as all swelling resolves and the fat stabilises. Around 60-80% of the transferred fat integrates permanently, this is your long-term result.

Your 12 months of included aftercare means your patient coordinator will guide you through every stage of this recovery process.

A BBL is a well-established procedure, but it is important that it is performed by an experienced surgeon in an accredited facility. Safety protocols have evolved significantly in recent years, and the techniques used by our surgeons follow the latest international guidelines.

Common effects (expected and temporary):

• Swelling and bruising in the liposuction and buttock areas, resolves over 4-8 weeks
• Discomfort and soreness, managed with prescribed pain relief
• Numbness in the donor and treatment areas, usually temporary, resolving over weeks to months
• Unevenness or lumpiness in liposuction areas, settles as swelling resolves

Less common considerations:

• Fat reabsorption, some transferred fat cells will not survive (typically 20-40%). Your surgeon compensates for this during the procedure
• Seroma or fluid collection, can occur in liposuction areas and is easily managed
• Infection, minimised through sterile hospital conditions and post-procedure antibiotics
• Fat necrosis, small areas of transferred fat may harden; these typically soften over time or can be treated if needed
