Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes fat from specific areas of the body using suction. Your surgeon makes small incisions (3-5mm) in the treatment area and inserts a thin tube called a cannula. The cannula is connected to a suction device that draws out the fat.
Common areas treated in single-area liposuction include:
- Abdomen, the most popular area, targeting belly fat
- Flanks (love handles), the fat that sits above the hips
- Inner or outer thighs, reshaping the thigh contour
- Upper arms, reducing arm fat for a more toned look

Your surgeon uses controlled, precise movements to sculpt the area, removing fat evenly to create a smooth, natural contour. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 1-2 hours for a single area.
The fat cells removed by liposuction do not grow back. However, remaining fat cells in untreated areas can still enlarge with weight gain, so maintaining a stable weight is important for long-lasting results.

Weeks 2-3: Most patients feel ready to return to normal daily activities. Gentle exercise (walking, light activity) can resume. Continue wearing your compression garment.
Weeks 4-6: Compression garment can usually be removed at week 4. Moderate exercise resumes. Swelling continues to decrease.
Months 2-3: The treated area continues to refine as residual swelling resolves and the skin retracts. Approximately 80% of your final result is visible.
Months 3-6: Final results are established. Skin tightening continues for up to 6 months.
