FUE Hair Transplant in Turkey
The gold standard in hair restoration, natural-looking results with minimal scarring. from £905 with 5-star hotel, transfers, and 12 months of aftercare.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the most popular hair transplant method in the world, and for good reason. It delivers natural-looking results, leaves virtually no visible scarring, and allows you to return to your normal routine within 7-10 days. If you have been living with hair loss and feel ready to do something about it, FUE could be the answer you have been looking for.
Turkey is where this technique has been perfected. Turkish surgeons perform more FUE hair transplants than anywhere else on the planet, and that experience shows in the results. With The Health Store Turkey, your procedure takes place in a government-licensed, JCI-accredited hospital, and your all-inclusive package means everything from your 5-star hotel to your airport transfers is taken care of.
An FUE hair transplant in the UK typically costs between £5,000 and £12,000. With us, your all-inclusive package starts from just £905. Same world-class results, a fraction of the price.
What Is FUE Hair Transplant?
FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. It is a minimally invasive hair transplant technique where individual hair follicles are extracted one at a time from a donor area (usually the back and sides of your head, where hair is naturally resistant to thinning) and carefully implanted into the areas where you are experiencing hair loss.
Unlike the older FUT (strip) method, FUE does not involve removing a strip of scalp. Instead, your surgeon uses a specialised micro-punch tool, typically 0.6-0.9mm in diameter, to extract each follicular unit individually. This means no linear scar, faster healing, and the freedom to wear your hair short if you choose to.
The extracted grafts are then placed into tiny incisions in the recipient area, following the natural direction and angle of your existing hair. A skilled surgeon can transplant between 2,000 and 5,000 grafts in a single session, depending on the extent of your hair loss and the density you are aiming for.
The result is hair that grows naturally, blends seamlessly with your existing hair, and continues to thicken over the 12 months following your procedure.
Am I Suitable?
FUE is suitable for the majority of men and women experiencing hair loss, but your suitability depends on several factors that your surgeon will assess during your free consultation.
You may be a good candidate if:
- You have a stable donor area with enough healthy hair follicles (typically the back and sides of your head)
- Your hair loss has stabilised, ideally, you are over 25 and your pattern of hair loss is established
- You are in good general health with no uncontrolled medical conditions
- You have realistic expectations about what a hair transplant can achieve
FUE can treat:
- Receding hairlines
- Thinning crowns
- Patchy hair loss (including some forms of alopecia)
- Previous hair transplant scars that need correction
- Eyebrow or beard restoration
You may not be suitable if:
- You have very limited donor hair available
- You are experiencing active, rapidly progressing hair loss (your surgeon may recommend stabilising this first)
- You have certain scalp conditions that need treatment before proceeding
During your free consultation, our team will assess your hair loss pattern, discuss your goals, and give you an honest recommendation. If FUE is not the right fit, we will tell you, and suggest alternatives that might work better for you.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Understanding exactly what happens before, during, and after your FUE hair transplant helps take away the uncertainty. Here is what your journey looks like, step by step.
Before your procedure
Your journey starts with a free consultation, either online or at one of our UK consultation days. Our team will assess your hair loss, discuss your goals, and recommend the best approach. You will receive a personalised treatment plan with clear pricing, no hidden costs.
Once you are ready to go ahead, we arrange everything: flights, hotel, transfers, and your procedure date.
On the day
You will be collected from your 5-star hotel and driven to the hospital. Your personal translator will be with you throughout. Before the procedure begins, your surgeon will draw the new hairline together with you, making sure you are happy with the plan.
Local anaesthesia is applied to numb both the donor and recipient areas. You will be awake and comfortable throughout, many patients watch films or listen to music during the procedure. The extraction and implantation process typically takes between 4 and 8 hours depending on the number of grafts.
After the procedure
You will receive detailed aftercare instructions, all necessary medications, and a special care kit. Most patients return to their hotel the same day and rest comfortably. A follow-up check is usually scheduled for the next morning.
Back home
Your aftercare continues for 12 full months. Our team will check in with you regularly, answer any questions, and monitor your progress as your new hair begins to grow.
Recovery & Aftercare
One of the great advantages of FUE is the relatively quick recovery. Most patients return to desk-based work within 3-5 days and resume all normal activities within 7-10 days.
Days 1-3: Some redness, mild swelling (particularly around the forehead), and slight tenderness in both the donor and recipient areas. This is completely normal. You will be given medication to manage any discomfort and reduce swelling.
Days 4-7: Swelling subsides. Tiny scabs form around the transplanted grafts, this is a healthy part of the healing process. Avoid touching or picking at them. You can gently wash your hair following the specific instructions provided by your surgeon.
Days 7-14: Scabs fall away naturally. The donor area heals quickly, and any redness begins to fade. You can return to light exercise around day 10.
Weeks 2-4: The transplanted hairs will shed. This is expected and completely normal, it is called "shock loss." The follicles are still alive beneath the surface and will begin producing new growth.
Months 3-6: New hair begins to emerge. It may appear fine at first but will gradually thicken.
Months 6-12: Significant growth and thickening. By 12 months, you will see the full results of your transplant.
What to avoid during recovery:
- Direct sunlight on the scalp for 4 weeks
- Swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms for 4 weeks
- Strenuous exercise for 2 weeks
- Alcohol for 1 week
- Smoking (ideally stop 2 weeks before and after, as it affects healing)
Risks & Considerations
Every medical procedure carries some degree of risk, and it is important that you understand these before making your decision. FUE is considered a safe, low-risk procedure, but transparency matters, and we want you to feel fully informed.
Possible side effects (common and temporary):
- Redness and swelling in the treated areas (resolves within 1-2 weeks)
- Mild discomfort or tightness in the donor area (managed with prescribed medication)
- Numbness or tingling in the scalp (temporary, typically resolves within a few weeks)
- Shock loss of transplanted hairs (expected, new growth follows within 3-6 months)
Less common risks:
- Infection (rare, minimised by the sterile hospital environment and post-operative antibiotics)
- Scarring (FUE leaves tiny dot scars in the donor area that are virtually invisible, even with very short hair)
- Uneven growth or lower-than-expected density (this is why choosing an experienced surgeon matters, our partner surgeons perform hair transplants daily)
- Folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles, treatable and temporary)
How we minimise risk:
Your procedure takes place in a government-licensed hospital with JCI accreditation. Your surgeon specialises in hair restoration and performs these procedures every day. You receive comprehensive aftercare instructions, all necessary medications, and 12 months of follow-up support.
If you have any concerns at any stage of your recovery, our team is available to help, that is what the 12 months of aftercare is for.

Frequently Asked Questions
The number of grafts depends on the extent of your hair loss and the density you are aiming for. As a general guide, a receding hairline might require 1,500-2,500 grafts, while a thinning crown could need 2,000-3,500 grafts. Some patients require up to 5,000 grafts for more extensive coverage. Your surgeon will assess this during your free consultation and give you a clear recommendation.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the transplant itself. The initial anaesthetic injections can cause brief discomfort, a mild stinging sensation that lasts a few seconds. Once the area is numb, most patients feel only light pressure or tugging. After the procedure, any discomfort is typically mild and well-managed with prescribed painkillers.
An FUE hair transplant typically takes between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the number of grafts being transplanted. The procedure is broken into stages, extraction, preparation of grafts, and implantation, with breaks in between. Many patients watch films, listen to podcasts, or rest during the session. It is a long day, but a comfortable one.
The transplanted hairs typically shed within the first 2-4 weeks, this is completely normal and expected. New growth begins around month 3, and you will notice significant improvement between months 6 and 9. The full results are visible at 12-18 months, when the transplanted hair has fully matured and thickened. Patience is key, but the wait is worth it.
A well-performed FUE hair transplant looks completely natural. Your surgeon places each graft following the natural direction, angle, and density of your existing hair, creating a result that blends seamlessly. There is no linear scar, only tiny dot marks in the donor area that are virtually invisible once healed. Most patients find that friends and family simply notice they look "well" or "refreshed" without being able to pinpoint why.
