Septorhinoplasty in Turkey

Septorhinoplasty is a combined procedure that corrects a deviated septum (the internal wall of cartilage and bone that divides the nasal passages) while simultaneously reshaping the external appearance of the nose.

The septoplasty component straightens the septum by removing or repositioning the deviated cartilage and bone. This opens the nasal passages and restores balanced airflow through both nostrils.

The rhinoplasty component reshapes the external nose, addressing bumps on the bridge, refining the tip, narrowing the width, correcting asymmetry, or reducing the overall size. Your surgeon uses either an open or closed technique depending on the complexity of the changes.

Septorhinoplasty can address:

• A deviated septum causing blocked breathing on one or both sides
• A crooked nose (often related to the septal deviation)
• Bumps, humps, or irregularities on the nasal bridge
• A bulbous, drooping, or upturned nasal tip

Before Your Procedure

Your journey starts with a free consultation, online, by phone, or at one of our UK consultation days. You will discuss both your breathing difficulties and any cosmetic concerns about your nose. Your surgeon will assess the degree of septal deviation and your external nasal structure.

Digital imaging may be used to show you the projected cosmetic result. Once you decide to proceed, you receive a treatment plan and pre-procedure instructions.

During Your Stay in Turkey

Your VIP transfer takes you to your 5-star hotel. The following day, you attend the hospital for pre-procedure assessments, blood tests, photographs, and a detailed consultation with your surgeon. Final markings are made.

Septorhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic and typically takes 2-3.5 hours. Your surgeon straightens the septum first, then reshapes the external nose. You stay in hospital for 1-2 nights with attentive nursing care. Your personal translator is with you throughout.

After Your Procedure

You will have a nasal splint on the outside of your nose and internal silicone splints to support both the septum and the new nasal shape. These are typically removed after 5-7 days. Before you fly home, your surgeon checks your healing and airway. You receive detailed aftercare instructions and 12 months of support.

Recovery from septorhinoplasty is similar to standard rhinoplasty, with the added benefit that breathing improvement becomes noticeable as internal swelling settles.

Day 1-3: Expect swelling and bruising around the nose and under the eyes. Your nose will feel blocked due to internal splints and swelling. Breathe through your mouth. Pain is typically mild and managed with prescribed medication. Keep your head elevated.

Day 3-7: Bruising begins to fade. Internal congestion remains but starts to improve. Avoid blowing your nose. Sneeze with your mouth open.

Day 5-7: External and internal splints are removed. Breathing improvement is often immediately noticeable, and you will see the initial shape of your reshaped nose. Expect residual swelling at this stage.

Week 2-4: Most visible swelling and bruising has resolved. Breathing continues to improve as internal swelling settles. You can return to work and normal activities. Avoid strenuous exercise and contact sports.

Month 1-6: The external shape continues to refine. Breathing improvement becomes fully established. Avoid wearing glasses on the bridge of your nose for at least 6 weeks.

Month 6-12: Your final result becomes apparent, a nose that looks natural and balanced, with clear, comfortable breathing through both nostrils.

Septorhinoplasty is a well-established combined procedure performed thousands of times daily worldwide. When carried out by an experienced surgeon, it has a strong safety profile.

Common effects (expected and temporary):

• Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes, resolves over 2-4 weeks
• Nasal congestion, improves as internal swelling settles over several weeks
• Numbness at the nasal tip, common, typically resolves within a few months
• Mild discomfort, managed with standard pain relief

Less common considerations:

• Septal perforation (a small hole in the septum), rare with experienced technique
• Residual deviation, occasionally further settling is needed
• Minor asymmetry, no nose is completely symmetrical
• Need for revision, around 5-10% of patients may desire further refinement
• Infection or nosebleeds, uncommon, managed with antibiotics and aftercare
