BREAST LIFT

Breasts might be sagging due to various reasons. Connectives holding the breast tissue might get loosened in time.

BREAST LIFT

Breast augmentation is the most popular and common surgery in the USA in 2011, along with liposuction and tummy tuck. Breast augmentation can be performed using silicone prosthesis, inflatable prosthesis or the person’s own fat tissue. Silicone, known for years to be one of the least harmful substances to the body, is processed in the laboratory and transformed into the silicone prosthesis we use today and used safely. Today, thick silicone gels called cohesive gels are used. The state-of-the-art 5th generation silicone prostheses are approved by the US FDA and do not leak even if pierced, since they are not liquid. The silicone prosthesis is produced with a smooth and rough surface, can be in round or drop (anatomical) shapes, and among them can be found in low, medium, high projections according to profile features and various plans of the breast, It can be placed by making various incisions. Various brands of prostheses are used safely in the market. The choice of this prosthesis may depend on the preference of the physician and patient.

Who are the suitable candidates for Breast Augmentation Surgery?

 – Having an asymmetrical breast size in which one breast is more than the other breast is less wwweloped
– Having small breasts that are not wwweloped enough
– Complaining about the breast structure and size
– Loss of breast tissue due to breast cancer
– Being 18 years old when the anatomical wwwelopment of breast tissue is completed
– Anything that may prevent surgery absence of a disease

The silicone prosthesis can be placed under the breast tissue (subglandular), under the muscle (submuscular), under the muscle membrane (subfacial) or in the form of multiple locations called “dual-plane” with incisions made under the armpit, nipple or under the breast. In addition, prosthesis can be inserted through the same incision (TABA method) and inflated (TUBA method) by entering through the belly button in patients who undergo tummy tuck.

All these preferences are shaped by the surgeon’s meeting with the patient. All options have separate advantages and disadvantages.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in hospital conditions and takes 1-2 hours. Bandages and bra are applied to the breast. Postoperative pain is minimal. If melting stitches are used, they do not need to be removed. There may be swelling and bruising in the early period; It disappears spontaneously in 10 days. The use of drains is the surgeon’s preference and is usually removed in 1-2 days. The patient can return to work in 3-5 days. It is recommended to stay away from heavy exercise for 1-2 months. It is not recommended to lie face down for 2 months. There may be minor shape changes in the postoperative period and these can often be corrected with massage.

Some complications are possible after breast augmentation surgery. In the early postoperative period, bleeding, seroma and infection, capsule formation-contracture, asymmetry, nipple sensory disturbance can be seen in the late period. These complications can be minimized. Prosthesis puncture or burst is not seen spontaneously. The prosthesis can be damaged in punctures such as excessive pressure, piercing-cutting object injuries. In this case, the prosthesis should be changed.

Activities such as plane travel, combat sports and deep diving are not an obstacle for women with breast prostheses. Breast ultrasonography should be performed routinely for patients under 40 years of age, and mammography for those over 40 years of age among patients who will undergo breast prosthesis surgery. After breast augmentation, breast tissue can be evaluated by examination, ultrasonography, tomography, mammography or magnetic resonance imaging. Having a prosthesis does not prevent them. Silicone prosthesis does not cause breast cancer. In some publications, it has been stated that it suppresses breast cancer because it puts pressure on breast tissue. If you become pregnant after breast augmentation, the prosthesis does not need to be removed and mothers can breastfeed their babies in the puerperium. Prostheses do not have to be changed after a certain year. It is changed if there is a problem related to the prosthesis.
